Krispy Kreme throwback

I've always enjoyed the Krispy Kreme logo because of its throwback look to the 50's, and the fact that it makes my mouth water every time I see it! The logo type because of its red color, and the long serifs, mixed with the dots surrounding it, pays homage to the 50's. Its such a well done logo. Also, the dot of the eye integrated into the artsy serif of the K creates a doughnut shape. Very simple, yet effective.

ive never noticed the dot of the eye really before and i think its a very creative approach to advertise their product while advertising their name. The logo is very mom in the kitchen with an apron on making dinner for the family while dad is relaxing with a coca cola. i think the use of white space and clean lines also adds to the 50's feel. its very simple in its design but stylized in the type face used in the logo.

this is a great example of a logo you see and just know what era it is from. Krispy kreme did a great job of making their logo seem classic and timeless. I agree with little cody that the logo is very mom in the kitchen, and I feel that krispy kreme was going for a family friendly sort of feeling when they designed this logo.

Yah I never noticed there was a dot of the eye before either. I think the logo has a very classic look that is able to grow with time and not go out of style.

Krispy Kreme's logo is successful in that they relate themselves to their founding age, the 50's. I think this shows the consumer that this is a company that doesn't need to update their look, even if it's a look from several decades ago, because they continue to thrive in business just like they did when they opened all those years ago. I like the typeface too, mainly because there's such a nice contrast between the thick and thin strokes, giving the type some movement.

man this makes me want a donut! This logo is great use of historical type. I agree with icequeen that this company's decision to keep a more classic feel (with cursive handwritten font) with their logo rather than keep updating to a more modern, clean look (sans serif fonts). Their logo is what makes them such a unique company. It's family friendly and it has been for generations.

there is definitely a 50s throw back feel to this logo. you can almost imagine a hip diner with a waitress on skates. It comes from the extended serifs, free flow forms and color pallet. Also the dots give the idea of pointillism which arises from that era.

I've also never spent a lot of time looking at Krispy Kremes 50's inspired logo, because I'm too busy shoving doughnuts into my mouth! It is very well done and has a unity that is pleasing to the eye. It kind of reminds me of the shape that the windshield makes in cars! Very much 50's inspired!

I love Krispy Kreme. It totally reminds me of the 50's era because of the font and the little green dots in the background. I never noticed that the dot of the "I" formed a little donut. Very observant Chirpjerp.
