TCU Dining logos mimic taste of food....??
So, ever since being in type, I've always disliked the logos for the TCU Dining Services and their food establishments. They have a very child-like style, and seem to be very cheaply done. Yet, they seem like they try to have a somewhat, "classy" feel to their establishments. Now while I feel like their places of dining are not "classy," they could at least try to mimic that feel they're attempting to go for, in their logos. The kerning is off in most of the logos. In the Frog Bytes logo, I've always hated and questioned what they were trying to achieve. They seem like they are trying to give a perspective to the blocks, but its just not working.

I HATE HATE HATE the pond street logo. it looks like ond SL which makes no sense. The sun and the streetlamp do not work well together. They need to stick to one concept or the other and execute it better.
Eww I completely agree. There is absolutely no unity in these logos and since they are all a part of TCU, I think that they should share something common in their designs. It stinks that we have to see them everyday.... I wonder when they were made. Maybe with the new dining hall they will revamp all of their logos!
I completely agree. I think they are horrible. The pond street face doesnt make sence. They all appear to have no relevance to the logos. I think out of the logos I like the Edens the best but thats not saying much.
The only logo that has potential to be nice is the one for Edens because of the use of an Asian calligraphic type that parallels the Asian food that the restaurant offers. I wish though that the designers could have incorporated the type better with the image of the flowers; perhaps the extended strokes of the "d" and "s" could have formed some of the vines?
I agree... the Pond St logo is annoying! The street lamp is a nice touch but the sun and moon have nothing to do with the concept. I really dislike the deco deli logo as well... it reminds me of a bad '80s outfit. I think that TCU needs to do a better job with trying to relate all the eateries on campus... like maybe a classic touch to each or a common color.... because right now it seems as though these eateries are not a part of our campus.
These are total over kill. As always there is something to be said for a simple, clean design. Out of all of them I can't stand the Pond Street one the most, but Deco Deli is a very close second. It's really that sun/moon thing going on in the "P." Many of the embellishments are distracting and without purpose. Sad day for the dining services... Why don't they hire us?!
who doesnt agree! frog bytes and pond street are my least favorite. first of all, frog bytes has like 2 computers so i dont really think it complies. why is one part purple and going down at an angle but the other is not? to make a shape?
everytime i go to pond street i get less hungry because the logo makes me nauseous. its too much..like rolf said, they need one main concept and thats it. all the type faces for each logo are cheap looking. they need to spruce it up and look more modern or homey. at least deco and edens are gone so we dont really have to look at those ever again.
These logos do look really cheap and like they havent been touched since 1980. The pond street logo's random illustrations are unnecessary and meaningless. The logos need to be more cohesive and follow some sort of pattern.
Yuck. It's not like the food is amazing enough to speak for itself they definitely need design to help them! I remember always going into Eden's and wondering who in the heck designed their plastic/glass sign because there were always awkward spaces. They should ask us to design their logos I think we could definitely do a WAY better job!
awww RIP deco and edens. I really like how they follow the theme of the food but i do agree ponds has always bugged me!
