Just some thoughts

This is the cover page for the Adam Carolla spread in the LA Magazine. It is a very unique approach to displaying body type while also going along with the idea that the spread is "getting in his head". Even though it is kind of hard to read and follow because of the lack of hierarchy, it is a good solution given the problem. The designer was able to really capture the idea of being able to get into someone's head with the chaos and almost random thoughts.

This is a really interesting approach to solving the problem. I wish that the thought bubbles were less structured because of how you said the type inside them is random. The random thoughts + structured thought bubbles= no relation. It makes it confusing to the viewer. Maybe if they were placed closer together in some areas the piece would flow better.

definitely a different approach and really what I think is affective is that because it is all split up we are probably more likely to read it all rather than starting a paragraph and not finishing it. It wouldn't work most things but since this a comedian and the structure of the articale it really works

the use of shapes is a very interesting layout design for body copy. they lead your eyes to different sections of the piece. though if the order that the information needs to be read, there might be some confusion.

I like its an intresting approach and is a creative way to show information. I agree with polly that I wish the bubbles had less structure so it was more random. I think this works for this situation but its not very practical for displaying alot of body copy.

I love all of the different type bubbles that are used in this piece. I think that because all of the type is split up like this it makes the reader actually want to read it and know what it says.

what a neat idea! I liked the fact that the designer didn't try and combine the pic along with the thought bubbles.. that would have looked too busy... nice job on putting it on 2 pages. This idea works for a comedian like Adam... it illustrates he is chatty and says funny things. I also really like that the talk bubbles are different shapes rather than just one simple shape... it gives something more for the eyes.
