Balloons Fantastique

I was driving down Belliare and found this business Balloons Fantastique. The designer decided to have the baseline shift on the second O and created into a Balloon. I think it seems fairly well done yet could have done other things to make it a stronger design. I think the use of brighter and bolder colors would have added to it because Ballons are for partys and celebrations and the off white back ground and tan back color to the text are boring. I think the subsitution of the balloon for the O is the most sucessful in this design, I would have maybe seen what it looked like making both O's ballons.

they should of made the emphasis on the name of the store instead of distracting it with the mass of colored balloons. though, the balloons are a kind of obvious approach that, "hey we sell balloons" and then you look more closely to see the name.

i dont know what works better...if you are driving along the highway and you see a bunch of balloons and you need a bunch of balloons then the sign is successful because who has time to read a sign? but in a design matter...they need to find a way to make it more visually appealing and still easy to read.

I think the logo works well for its purpose of a cheesy balloon store, but it definately needs a makeover. Balloons Fantastique needs to let go of it's logo that is overtaken with faded pastel-colored balloons and think of using type in a more creative way. Their idea of shifting the baseline of the second O is actually quite clever, but their execution of this idea needs some work.

it's hard to focus on the type when the colors are so faded and almost depressing, when we're talking about something happy, balloons. but after putting the sad colors aside, the type is okay. It doesn't really stand out as being that fun, but it also isn't a bad idea. Maybe done in a different type-face it could have been livend up a little to match the content. It's one of those 'so so' designs that you don't hate, but you also don't love. It just kind of forgettable.

I agree that the logo needs an overhaul. using the "o's" as balloons is such an obvious approach. The logo should be livened up especially since they are selling balloons. And I agree with Polly that the shifting baseline with the one "o' works well. They should play around with other ideas instead of just having the logo in front of a lump of balloons.

i do not like this logo at all. I think it looks cheap and needs a little help. it goes with the fun them of a balloon store but that could also be done with a little more class and simplicity. It is a very obvious approach and could be push further i think.

This sign is outdated.... thats obvious. it is too, well, cheesy. they could have used the Os to infer the idea of balloons and not make it so evident. the colors also need a touching up in that they are super faded and out of date. they probably thought they were clever when the designer was creating it but now the idea so over.

It may seem a little outdated because of the faded colors, but it's simple and fun, which is perfect for a balloon company. The substitution of a balloon for the o as well as the higher baseline added a nice touch. I do agree that an outdated sign is something a company definitely should avoid because the customers want everything new and improved. It doesn't need a makeover but it does need a face lift!
